Key findings

What the data shows

  1. Guests are mostly happy. Across 4,068 reviews of 146 bars, pubs and cocktail lounges from Oct 2024 to Sep 2026, 86% were positive, 5% mixed and 9% negative, with an average rating of 4.5. A high rating alone no longer sets a venue apart.

  2. The negative share is steady but not improving. It was 9% in 2025-Q4, rose to 10% in 2026-Q1, and returned to 9% in both 2026-Q2 and 2026-Q3, which suggests the same problems keep coming back.

  3. Long waits are the complaint to watch. 'Waited 30+ minutes, never served' appears in 2% of negative and mixed reviews and is up 2 points, as in one review: "Three hours no pizza. Cannot refund. Two day event to straighten out." Table ordering with staff alerts keeps tables from going unserved.

  4. Group booking communication is also rising. It appears in 1% of negative and mixed reviews and is up 1 point, with one guest writing that a venue "Cancelled our event day of with no warning and were quite rude about it." Automated booking messages and rescheduling keep groups informed.

  5. Wrong hours are improving and are the cheapest fix. Being closed during advertised open hours appears in 2% of negative and mixed reviews and is down 2 points. Syncing hours across Google, the website and the door sign, and sending closure alerts, protects that progress. Price clarity and payments hold at 1% each with no change and can come later in the plan.
