We're happy to share that Octabiz has been accepted into PostHog for Startups, the program PostHog runs for early-stage companies. It comes with $50,000 in PostHog credits, which goes a long way for a small team like ours.
If you run a shop on Octabiz, you'll never see PostHog. It works behind the scenes, and it's one of the main ways we find out what's working and what isn't.
What we use PostHog for
- Seeing how the app gets used. We look at which screens people open, where they get stuck, and which features nobody touches (e.g. a settings page that people open and then leave straight away). This is how we decide what to fix first.
- Session replays. When someone tells us "the cashier screen did something weird", a replay lets us see exactly what happened, so we don't have to ask them to describe it three times.
- Front-end errors. PostHog catches errors in the browser, so we often know about a problem before a shop owner has to report it.
- Keeping our AI costs honest. Every AI call in Octabiz (the assistant, meeting summaries, translation) is logged as a usage event. We can see what each feature really costs us to run, which keeps our prices sensible.
We don't run PostHog on the online stores our customers build with OctaShop, so your own shoppers aren't tracked by us.
Why this matters to you
The more clearly we can see where Octabiz is confusing, the faster it gets calmer to use. The credits mean we can keep that visibility on everywhere without counting events.
If you have questions about how we use analytics, write to us and we'll answer plainly.
