Octabiz joins the Sentry for Startups program

Octabiz is now part of Sentry for Startups. Here's how Sentry helps us catch crashes before shop owners notice them.

Octabiz has been accepted into Sentry for Startups. The program gives us $5,000 in Sentry credits for a year, plus priority support from the Sentry team.

Sentry is the tool that tells us when something breaks. For software that runs a shop's till, stock and books, that matters a lot: a crash at the counter during a busy hour is the worst kind of bug.

What we use Sentry for

  • Catching crashes as they happen. If the app hits an error on someone's screen, Sentry records it with the details we need to fix it (which page, which action, which browser).
  • Turning alerts into work straight away. A new Sentry alert automatically opens an issue in our code tracker, so a crash goes straight onto someone's list and can't sit unnoticed in a dashboard.
  • One place to check health. Our team sees the current error list inside Octabiz's own admin pages, next to the rest of our system logs.

Why this matters to you

Most bugs Sentry catches are ones nobody reports. People just try again, or work around it, and get a little more annoyed with their software. Catching those quietly is how we keep Octabiz feeling calm.

If you ever hit something odd, still tell us (a short message is enough). Sentry shows us what broke; you tell us what you were trying to do, and we need both.
